He was the founder of the Afsharid dynasty. This was a group of rulers who led the country for a short time. Nader was a great military leader who won many battles. He fought in many places like the Middle East and Central Asia. His victories made him a very strong sovereign in West Asia. He even ruled one of the most powerful empires in the world.

Nader's rise to power happened during a time of great chaos. Many different groups were fighting for control of the land. The Afghan Hotaki group had taken over the capital city, Isfahan. At the same time, the Ottoman and Russian empires took Iranian lands. Nader started by building his own small army to fight back. He first helped the Safavid dynasty, which had ruled for 200 years. He won several battles, such as the Battle of Damghan in 1729.

Nader's early life was very different from his time as a king. He was born in the Khorasan region of northeastern Iran. His father, Emam Qoli, was a herdsman and a coatmaker. Nader's family lived a nomadic life, moving from place to place. When he was 13, his father died. Nader had to gather sticks for firewood to help his mother. He was even taken into slavery during an invasion by Uzbeks.

As a ruler, Nader made many big changes. In 1736, he removed the last Safavid leaders. He then declared himself the Shah of Iran. He led many famous military campaigns to grow his empire. These included battles at the Khyber Pass and the Battle of Karnal.

His empire reached many modern places like India, Turkey, and Iraq. However, his many wars cost a huge amount of money. This spending had a ruinous effect on the economy of Iran.

Nader's life ended during a time of rebellion. He was assassinated in 1747.

After he died, his large empire quickly fell apart. Iran fell into a civil war because the lands were no longer united. His grandson, Shahrokh Shah, was the last ruler of his family. The Afsharid dynasty ended in 1796 when a new leader took over. Nader's story shows how one person can change the map of the world.
