She was a poet, writer, and journalist. She was also the first female professional painter in Korea. Na used her many talents to fight for women's rights. This work is called feminism. She wanted women to have more freedom than they had before. Many people in her time thought women should only be wives and mothers. Na rejected this idea to pursue her own career. She wanted women to be independent and educated.

Na's art and writing followed a clear path.

In 1920, she published her famous novel called "Kyonghui." This book was about a woman finding herself. In 1921, she held the first exhibition by a Korean woman painter in Seoul. Her paintings won many awards at the Joseon Art Exhibition. For example, her work "Garden" won the highest award in 1931. Some of her paintings sold for 350 won. That is about $3,500 in today's money.

We can see her life's story in her famous Self-Portrait.

In this painting, she wears modern Western clothes. She does not wear the traditional Korean hanbok. Her hair is styled in soft waves. Her face looks weary and shows deep sadness. This reflects the hard life of a "new woman" in a strict society. Even after facing many personal struggles, she never stopped her work. Today, the Seoul Arts Center celebrates her legacy with special exhibitions.
