arts Maturity 5-7 Next article →

My Little Pony is a famous line of toys and shows.

It all started in 1981 with a toy called My Pretty Pony. These first ponies were ten inches tall. They could wiggle their ears and wink an eye.

In 1982, Hasbro made smaller and colorful ponies. These ponies have bright hair and special marks on their sides. Fans call these marks cutie marks. Over the years, the ponies have changed many times. Collectors call these different versions "generations."

Some generations were very popular. The fourth generation started in 2010 with a show called Friendship Is Magic. This show was a huge hit. It even gained many adult fans. These fans call themselves "bronies."
