A person who speaks many languages is called a polyglot. Many people in the world use more than one language. This helps people trade and share new ideas.

It also helps people connect with different cultures.

Some children learn two languages at the same time. We call these children simultaneous bilinguals. They often find it easy to learn more languages later.

In some places, schools require kids to learn many ways to talk. In Finland, students learn two national languages and a foreign one. This helps them talk to neighbors in other countries.

Sometimes, people can understand a language but cannot speak it. This is called receptive bilingualism. You might see this in families where parents and children speak different languages.
