Mr. Children is a famous pop rock band from Japan.

The group has four members. They formed in 1989. The lead singer, Kazutoshi Sakurai, writes most of the music.

The band had a slow start. They sent out tapes to record labels. No one wanted them at first. The group took a break for three months. During this time, members worked regular jobs. One member worked at a hotel. Another worked for his father's company.

Things changed when they signed with a label. They became very successful in Japan. They have sold over 75 million records. Their song "Innocent World" won a Japan Record Award. Their single "Cross Road" sold over one million copies.

The band also loves to play for fans. In 2015, over one million people saw them in concert. They held 36 shows that year. The name "Mr. Children" came from a fun dinner talk. They liked the word "children." They added "Mr." because they were not children anymore. This name gave them a new way to look at the group.
