The mountain is part of the Saint Elias Mountains. It is near the border of Alaska.

This mountain is very large. It has the largest base of any non-volcanic mountain on Earth. It is also home to the Hubbard and Logan glaciers. The mountain is still rising. It grows taller every year because the ground is moving.

It is a very cold place. In the winter, the air is extremely cold. In the summer, it stays near freezing. A thick cap of ice covers the mountain.

Many people try to climb it. An international team first reached the top in 1925. Some climbers suffered from frostbite.

In 1992, experts used GPS to find its exact height. It is 5,959 meters tall. Climbing here can be hard. New rules now say people cannot climb alone or in winter.
