The second peak is called Little Ararat. These two peaks are separated by a wide crack in the ground.

Many people find this mountain very special. It is a major symbol for the people of Armenia. Even though it is in Turkey, it is a sacred mountain to Armenians.

In many stories, the mountain is linked to Noah's Ark.

The top of the mountain is covered in ice. This ice cap is getting smaller. Scientists say the ice has been shrinking since 1957. They found the ice cap lost 29% of its size between 1976 and 2011. If this keeps happening, the ice might not stay there forever. The mountain is also known by other names. In Turkey, people call it Mount Ağrı. In Armenia, it is called Masis.
