During his time in the Ottoman Army, he worked as an interpreter. He was able to speak many different languages like Turkish, English, and Russian. He also knew German, French, and Arabic.

Sharett spent many years working in politics to help his people. In 1931, he became a leader in the political department of the Jewish Agency. During World War II, he worked hard to help Jewish refugees who were in trouble. He also helped lead the Jewish Brigade, which fought alongside the British Army. These talks took place in places like Rhodes, a Greek island. One of these agreements was signed at a place called the Grande Albergo delle Rose.

Sharett also served as the Prime Minister of Israel from 1954 to 1955. He took this job after David Ben-Gurion stepped down for a short time. Being the leader was a very difficult and serious job. There were many disagreements within his own political party, called Mapai. One big problem was called the Lavon Affair, which involved secret military actions in Egypt. This situation caused much trouble for the government and led to people leaving their jobs. Sharett even had to deal with many hard decisions regarding how to use force.

Even when things were hard, Sharett believed in being calm and fair. He was known for his ideas of moderation and restraint. This means he did not think it was good to use too much force. He often worried that being too angry or vengeful would cause more problems. He wanted to find peaceful ways to solve disagreements between different lands. Sharett's goal was to keep his country safe while also acting with honor. He remains a key figure in the story of how Israel began.
