Monster trucks are powerful vehicles made for shows.

They are much different from the trucks you see on the road. Long ago, people used regular pickup trucks for shows. They added big tires and strong parts to them. Now, most trucks are built from scratch. They use a tube-frame chassis, which is a strong metal skeleton.

They also have fiberglass bodies. These are light shells that look like different themes.

These trucks are very heavy. A truck in a big show must weigh at least five short tons. They use huge tires from farm tools. These tires are 66 inches tall. To move these big tires, trucks use special axles. They also have four-wheel steering. This means the driver can turn all four wheels.

Shows usually have two parts. First, there is a race on a short track. Next, there is a freestyle contest. In freestyle, drivers do stunts. They might do wheelies or backflips. Judges give points for these moves. The driver with the most points wins the show.
