He believed in anarchism. This is the idea that people should live without a state or a king. He wanted people to be free and work together in small groups.

Mikhail grew up in a noble family. He studied many subjects like math and philosophy. He even wanted to be a teacher. But his ideas became more radical over time. He wanted to change how governments worked.

His life was full of big changes. He traveled to many places like France, Italy, and even America.

Because of his ideas, he faced many hard times. He was sent to prison and lived in exile in Siberia. He even had to escape to reach London.

Mikhail often argued with other thinkers. One famous rival was Karl Marx. Marx thought the state was needed to help people. Bakunin disagreed. He thought people should run their own workplaces instead. He wrote many books about these ideas. His work still helps people think about freedom today.
