This province is located in a historic area called the Hejaz. It has a long coastline that stretches along the Red Sea. This coast is about 700 kilometers long. It faces Sudan to the west and Ethiopia to the south. The province sits near other areas like the Madinah Province to the north.

The land here has many different shapes and feels. Much of the center and east is a dry desert. Tall mountains called the Hejaz mountains run through the middle. These mountains are between 600 and 2,000 meters high. They separate the flat coastal plains from the Nafud desert. In some places, you can find green oases and wadis. These are spots where plants like dates and barley grow. The city of Ta'if is even famous for growing beautiful roses.

Later, the House of Sa'ud took control of the region. In 1925, King Ibn Sa'ud conquered the area. Now, it is a province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

There are many busy cities and special places to see. Jeddah is the largest city and a major port. It has about 2,867,446 people and is the second largest city in the whole country.
