Math can study how things change and move. This is called mathematical analysis. It looks at things like numbers, shapes, and patterns.

Long ago, thinkers used early ideas to solve puzzles. Archimedes found the area of a circle. He used shapes with many sides to fill it. In China, Liu Hui used a similar way. In India, Madhava of Sangamagrama studied infinite series. These are long lists of numbers that follow a rule.

Later, math grew in Europe. Descartes made a system for shapes and numbers. Then, Newton and Leibniz made calculus. Calculus is a way to study change. Analysis grew from these ideas. It became its own subject.

Today, analysis has many parts. Real analysis studies real numbers. Complex analysis uses complex numbers. This helps scientists study things like heat and power. Harmonic analysis looks at waves. This helps us understand music and the brain.

Analysis also uses differential equations. These are equations that help us find unknown functions. They can show how things move in a complex way.
