Møns Klint is a long stretch of white cliffs. 
Many people visit this nature reserve each year. You can walk or bike on marked paths. Some paths lead to stairs. These stairs go down to the shore. 

Møns Klint is a beautiful stretch of white cliffs. 
The chalk was made a very long time ago. It comes from the shells of tiny creatures called coccolithophores. These living things lived on the seabed 70 million years ago. Later, huge glaciers moved across the land. The heavy ice pushed the ground upward. This created hills and folds in the earth. When the ice melted 11,000 years ago, the cliffs appeared. Today, the sea still erodes the chalk. This can create new fossils of old shellfish.
Many people enjoy visiting this nature reserve every year. About 250,000 visitors come to see the cliffs. You can walk, ride a bike, or ride a horse on marked paths. Some paths lead to stairs that go down to the beach. 

The land here is full of rare life. The chalky soil helps many special plants grow. You might see tall lady orchids near the beach stairs. The beech trees look light green because of the chalk. 

There are other interesting places to explore nearby. At the northern end, you can visit Liselund Park. Antoine de la Calmette built this park for his wife in the late 1700s. It has small houses, ponds, and green lawns. 

Møns Klint is a dramatic 6 km stretch of limestone and chalk cliffs. 

The formation of these cliffs began over 70 million years ago. The white chalk is made from the remains of microscopic creatures called coccolithophores. These organisms lived on the ancient seabed. Over millions of years, their shells accumulated in thick layers. Later, massive glaciers moved toward the west. The immense pressure from this moving ice compacted the terrain. This force pushed the ground upward into hills and folds. When the ice melted roughly 11,000 years ago, the cliffs emerged.
Erosion is a constant force acting on the coastline. The sea continuously wears away the soft chalk. This process can cause significant changes to the landscape. In 1998, erosion caused the "Sommerspiret" to fall into the sea. This was one of the highest points on the cliffs. A much larger event occurred in January 2007. A massive landslide happened near the Store Taler area in the northern cliffs. This event created a 300-m long peninsula of chalk and fallen trees.
The landscape surrounding the cliffs is diverse and hilly. The area includes woodlands, pastures, and various ponds. Some parts of the park stretch several kilometers inland. You can find steep hills like Aborrebjerg in this region. Aborrebjerg reaches a height of 142 m. This makes it one of the highest points in all of Denmark. The soil here is very different from other places due to the high chalk content. This unique chemistry supports a specific type of ecosystem. 
Because of the chalky soil, many rare plants thrive here. Several varieties of orchid grow in the area. The tall lady orchid, or Orchis purpurea, grows near the stairs leading to the beach. The chalk also affects the local vegetation visually. It provides a distinctive light green tint to the beech trees. This effect helps the trees maintain their spring colors throughout the summer. 

Visitors can explore the site through several organized ways. About 250,000 people visit Møns Klint every year. There are clearly marked paths for walkers, riders, and cyclists. Some paths along the cliff tops lead to staircases. These stairs allow people to reach the shore below. In 2007, Queen Margrothe opened the GeoCenter Møns Klint. 
Several historical sites add depth to the local culture. At the northern end lies Liselund Park. Antoine de la Calmette built this park for his wife, Elisabeth, at the end of the 18th century. It features small houses, ponds, and rolling lawns.
