He lived in America a long time ago. He was born in 1808 on a farm. Spooner was a lawyer and a writer. He also started a business to send mail.

At that time, the Post Office was the only way to send mail. The cost to send a letter was very high. Spooner started the American Letter Mail Company to help. His company used trains and boats to carry letters. This competition helped lower the cost of mail for everyone.

Spooner also worked hard to end slavery. He wrote a book called "The Unconstitutionality of Slavery." He argued that the law did not allow slavery. He wanted people to be free.

Spooner had many political views. He believed people should rule themselves. He did not want a central government to have too much power. He died in 1887 in Boston. He is buried in Forest Hills Cemetery.
