He was known for starting his own political movement. This movement was called the National Caucus of Labor Committees, or the NCLC. He was also a perennial candidate for President. This means he ran for the highest office many times. He ran in every election from 1976 until 2004. He often used third parties to run for office. His ideas were very different from most other leaders.

LaRouche's political views changed a lot over his life. In the 1940s, he joined far-left groups like the Socialist Workers Party. He was interested in Marxism and socialism during this time. However, his views shifted during the 1970s. He moved toward far-right politics and held many conspiracy theories. He believed secret groups were trying to harm him. He even claimed Queen Elizabeth II was targeting him. These ideas made his movement very unique and controversial.

He built a very organized group of followers. By 1973, the NCLC had over 600 members in 25 cities. This included places like West Berlin and Stockholm.
