We call them sheet weavers. This is because they make flat webs. Some people also call them money spiders. This family is very big. It has about 5,000 known species. Scientists are still finding new ones today.

These spiders have a special way to travel. It is called ballooning. They use the wind to drift through the air. This helps them reach new places. It can be risky, though. They do not have much control over where they land.

Some sheet weavers live in very cold places. They can even walk on snow. They stay active in temperatures as low as −7 °C.

Many of these spiders are very tiny. Some are only 3 mm long. They are often eaten by birds. A bird called a goldcrest likes to hunt them. Even though they are small, they are very important to nature.
