Pauling studied hard at college. He later went to a school called Caltech. He was a leader in quantum chemistry. This is a way to study how atoms act. He also helped start molecular biology. This is the study of tiny life parts.

Pauling studied how atoms stick together. He called this the chemical bond. He made a scale to measure how atoms bond. We call this electronegativity.

He was one of only five people to win two prizes. He was the only one to win two unshared prizes. This means he won them alone.
