Many other counties are nearby, like Norfolk and Nottinghamshire.

The land has many different shapes. The south-east has the Fens. This is a flat, marshy area. Some parts of the Fens are below sea level. In the north-east, there are the Lincolnshire Wolds. These are rolling hills.

The west has a long hill called the Lincolnshire Edge. Much of the land is used for farming.

History is everywhere here. The city of Lincoln was a major Roman settlement. Long ago, people also lived here called the Corieltauvi. In the past, wealth from wool helped build grand churches. One famous person born here was Sir Isaac Newton. The county is also known as 'Bomber County.' This is because the flat land was a base for the Royal Air Force during the Second World War.
