Many people call her the "Prima of Bulgarian popular music." This title shows how much she means to her country. She has been performing for a very long time. Her career has lasted since the early 1960s. She has performed in over 11,000 concerts around the world. This includes many tours in the former USSR and Russia. She has also traveled to places like Japan, Brazil, and Cuba. Even in the United States and Canada, she sings for Bulgarian immigrants.

Her music has a very special sound that changes over time. In the 1960s and 1970s, her songs used rich orchestrations. These big musical arrangements included brass bands and string orchestras. She also used electric guitars, pianos, and the Hammond organ. Sometimes, she used choral backing vocals and a special echo on her voice. Later, she began to use electronic musical instruments. She loves to experiment with many different styles. She has sung rock, soul, jazz, and even Balkan ethno music. To her, the lyrics and the message of a song are most important.

Lili's journey began in the small town of Kubrat. She was born there on April 24, 1939. Before she became a star, she studied at a nursing school in Varna. She actually worked as a nurse for a very short time. Her big break happened in Romania in 1963. She sang at the Ambassador Hotel and the Constantin Tanase Music Hall Theatre. The local people loved her so much that they watched her on television. That same year, she recorded her very first album called "Amore Twist."

She has had a very successful career with many records. Lili has released 35 albums and 29 singles in total. Some of her albums were huge hits in the Soviet Union. One magazine said she sold more than 10 million copies there. In 1967, she recorded her second album, "Sea of Youth," in Bulgaria. Her third album was recorded in Moscow in 1968. She also recorded the song "Camino" in 1968. She still performs that song today because it shows the full range of her voice.

Lili has won many important awards for her talent. In 1966, she won her first prize, the "Golden Key," in Bratislava. She also won a "Golden Plate" in Cannes in 1969 for selling many albums. In 1999, she received the "Stara Planina" medal from the Bulgarian State. This was a very high honor for her work in music. She even has a star on the Bulgarian Walk of Fame. In 2023, BG Radio called her the greatest Bulgarian pop singer of all times.
