This fish has long bits of skin on its body. These parts look like seaweed. They help the fish hide from others. This is called camouflage.

Tiny fins help the fish swim. There are fins on the sides of its neck. There is also a fin on its back. These fins are clear and hard to see. They move very slowly. This makes the fish look like floating plants.

The leafy seadragon eats small things. It uses a long snout to suck up tiny shrimp. The snout is shaped like a pipe.

Male fish care for the eggs. The female uses a tube called an ovipositor to place eggs on the male. The eggs stick to a part of his tail. The male shakes his tail to help them hatch. After nine weeks, the babies emerge. They are ready to live on their own right away. They are very small when they are born.
