Scientists can make this salt in a lab. They can mix sodium chromate with lead salts. They also use lead oxide and chromic acid. It is used today for paint on roads.

We must be very careful with lead chromate. It can be bad if people breathe in the dust. In the 1800s, people even used it in candy. This is not safe. Some people also use it to change the color of spices. This can make children sick. Because of this, many countries have strict rules for it.
