You can use the milk to make art. This is called latte art. You pour the milk to make patterns. These patterns use white milk and brown coffee. In Italy, the word latte just means milk. People in Italy often drink milky coffee for breakfast. The modern drink grew in the 20th century. This happened after people made espresso machines. In 1903, machines got a steam wand. This tool adds heat and texture to milk. In the United States, some people add sweet syrup.
