Many things come from the lake. It provides 90% of the fish in Armenia. It also provides 80% of the crayfish. Many people visit the lake to swim or sunbathe. It has the only beaches in Armenia.

In the past, the water level went down. People used the water for power and farms. This made the lake much smaller. To help, people built two long tunnels.

These tunnels bring water from other rivers. Now, the water level is rising again.

There is a famous place on a piece of land in the water. It was once an island. Now it is a peninsula. A medieval monastery sits there. It is called Sevanavank. This site is very special to the people of Armenia.
