Walras used math to study the world. He wanted to see how all markets work together. He called this general equilibrium. This means all markets find a balance at the same time. He thought markets work like science. He used math to show how prices change.

Walras had many jobs before he was a teacher. He worked in a bank and for a railway. He also wrote stories. Later, he taught at a university in Switzerland. He wrote a big book called "Éléments d'économie politique pure." This book helped make economics a math science.

He also had ideas about land. He thought the nation should own the land. He believed this could help pay for things without extra taxes. He also had a rule called Walras's law. This law says that if most markets are in balance, the last one must be too. Many smart people still study his work today.
