It is a place where many people live and work together.

Long ago, Khobar was a very small fishing village. In 1923, a group called the Dawasir tribe moved there. They moved with the permission of King Abdulaziz Al Saud. They chose this spot because it was close to Bahrain. Later, oil was found in the nearby land. This changed everything for the city. Khobar became an important port for shipping oil. It helped the company Saudi Aramco move oil to other places.

Today, the city looks very different from that small village. Most of the streets follow a grid system. You will see many buildings that hold both shops and homes. You can also see many masjids, which are places for prayer, on the streets. The city is famous for its shopping. There are many large malls, like the al-Rashid Mall.
