He studied many things like history, money, and philosophy. He wanted to understand how human societies change over time. Marx believed that history moves forward through a struggle between different groups. He called this idea historical materialism. This way of thinking helps people look at how wealth and power work. His ideas were so big that people call them Marxism. Today, many people still study his work to understand the world.

Marx looked closely at how the system of capitalism works. He saw two main groups of people in this system. The first group is the bourgeoisie. These are the people who own the factories and the tools. The second group is the proletariat. These are the workers who sell their labor to earn wages.

Marx thought these two groups would always be in conflict. He predicted that this tension would eventually change everything. He believed a new socialist system would one day take its place. This new system would be a classless society where everyone works together.

Marx was born on May 5, 1818, in Trier.

His father, Heinrich, was a lawyer in the Kingdom of Prussia. His mother, Henriette, came from a wealthy business family. Marx went to many different universities to study. He studied at the University of Bonn and the University of Berlin. Later, he earned his doctoral degree in philosophy from the University of Jena in 1841.
