Mannheim helped start the sociology of knowledge. This is the study of how our world shapes our ideas. He wanted to know why people think the way they do. He wrote a big book called Ideology and Utopia. In it, he talked about different ways people see the world. He looked at ideas that support how things are. He also looked at utopias. A utopia is an idea for a better future.

Life was not always easy for him. He had to leave Hungary and Germany. This was because of unfair laws. He moved to Britain to find a new home. He became a teacher at the London School of Economics. He also worked with his wife, Julia Lang. She helped him write his books. Mannheim died in London in 1947. His work still helps us understand society today.
