The name means "King's mountain."

Many people lived there. They came from many different lands. This made the city a busy place for trade.

It was a place for learning, too. A big school was built there. Many smart people lived in the city.

Wars changed the city a lot. Buildings were broken in a big fight. Later, the city got a new name.

Now, the place is called Kaliningrad. It is part of Russia. It is still a place by the water.
