It sits in the Jiangxi province. The city borders Anhui to the north. It is near the Poyang Lake Plain.

People call this city the "Porcelain Capital." This is because it makes fine ceramics. This work has happened for at least 1,000 years. Long ago, the emperors used these kilns. A kiln is a very hot oven for clay. These ovens made the best porcelain in China.

Making porcelain needs special things from the Earth. The area has kaolin. This is a type of white clay. It also has pottery stone. The city has many pine forests. These trees give wood for the fires. Rivers near the city help move the fragile pots.

Today, many young artists live here. They come from all over China to make art. The city also makes other things. It has factories that build helicopters and cars.
