The ships sailed past the Falkland Islands. They went into the Pacific Ocean. On Easter Sunday in 1722, he found Easter Island. He saw many people living there. He also found the islands of Samoa and Bora Bora. The trip was hard. Some men on his crew died during a fight on an island called Makatea. After the trip, Jacob went to Batavia. This is a place we now call Jakarta. He was arrested there. Later, a court made his company pay him for his losses. He lived until 1729.
