International order

society Maturity 11-13 Next article →

Countries in our world follow certain patterns. They use rules and laws to work together. This is called an international order. It is made of many parts. These parts include groups like the United Nations. These groups help many nations act in a regular way.

A big system began after World War II. It is called the liberal international order. This system started around 1945. The United States helped lead it. Many lands in North America and Europe joined in. Japan also joined this group. These lands worked to spread democracy. They also worked to help trade grow. This system helps countries follow human rights. It also helps them keep peace.

Some thinkers have different ideas about this order. One man named John Mearsheimer has a different view. He says this order only truly grew after the Cold War ended. Today, the order faces new tests. Some countries want to change the rules. China and Russia are seen as leaders in this change. Other lands feel unhappy with their roles. It is a big and changing system.
