We want to keep data safe from bad people. These people might try to steal secrets. They might try to change facts or delete files. Some use software attacks like viruses. Others try identity theft. This is when someone acts like you to get your info.

To stay safe, we use many tools. We use passwords and special software. We also use encryption. Encryption is a way to scramble data so others cannot read it. Experts follow rules called standards. These guidelines help keep networks and devices safe.

People have protected secrets for a long time. Julius Caesar used a code to hide his messages. During World War II, the Enigma Machine was used to scramble data. Later, the internet began to grow. Early networks were not very safe. This led to the rise of IT security specialists. These experts work to keep our digital world secure.
