Long ago, a big group of people lived near rivers. This was the Indus Valley Civilisation. It lasted from 3300 BCE to 1300 BCE.

These people lived in many places. They lived in parts of Pakistan and India. They also lived in Afghanistan. They built very smart cities. These cities had houses made of baked bricks. They also had systems to move water and waste.

Over time, the land began to dry out. This made it hard to find water. Because of this, the people moved away.
