Hyeokgeose was the first king of Silla. Silla was a kingdom in Korea. Long ago, six village leaders met to pick a king. They saw a bright light in the sky. A white horse came down to a well. A leader named Sobeolgong found a large egg there. A boy came out of the egg. His body gave off light. Animals danced around him. The leaders made him king when he was 13. They called the land Seorabeol. He married Lady Aryeong.

Hyeokgeose ruled for about 60 years. He and his queen traveled to help people. They helped people grow better crops. In 37 BC, he built a city called Geumseong. He also built a royal palace there. He was a strong leader. He was one of the few Park kings with full power. He died when he was 73. People buried his parts in five different tombs. These tombs are called Sareung. Today, many people in Korea have the last name Park. They say they come from his family.
