Life was very hard for many people during the Banzerato. Banzer's government was not kind to those who disagreed with him. Many people were arrested or treated very badly by the leaders. Some people were even killed or forced to leave Bolivia to stay safe. Human rights groups say thousands of people had to seek help in other countries. This was a sad and difficult time for the nation.
