She was born in 1879 in a city called Minya. Her father was a famous man named Muhamed Sultan Pasha Shaarawi. He later led the Chamber of Deputies in Egypt. Huda was a very smart child. She studied many subjects like grammar and calligraphy. She even learned how to write in different languages. As a young woman, she lived a quiet life inside her community.

Later in life, Huda worked to change how women lived. At that time, many women stayed inside their homes. Huda thought this was not fair for them. She wanted women to have more freedom. In 1909, she helped start a group to help poor women. This group was called Mubarrat Muhammad Ali. In 1910, she opened a new school for girls. She wanted them to learn academic subjects. This helped girls learn more than just practical skills.

History changed during the Egyptian Revolution of 1919. This was a time when people wanted Egypt to be free from Britain. Women led many of the protests during this time. Huda worked with her husband during the struggle. She helped lead women into the streets to march. Because of her work, she was elected president of a group called the Wafdist Women's Central Committee. This group was formed on January 12, 1920. Huda showed that women could be strong leaders for their country.

In 1923, Huda started the Egyptian Feminist Union.

This group worked to change laws about marriage and divorce. Huda also made a very famous choice. After her husband died in 1922, she stopped wearing her veil and mantle. She did this after returning from a meeting in Rome. Many women were shocked when they saw her. Then, they began to clap for her. Some women even decided to remove their own veils too.

Huda spent many years speaking to the world. She traveled to many cities like Paris, Berlin, and Istanbul. In 1935, she went to a big meeting in Turkey. There, she met a leader named Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. She even spoke to him in the Turkish language. Huda also started a magazine for women in 1925. It was first called L'Égyptienne in French. Later, she published it in Arabic as al-miṣriyya. She worked for her people until she died in 1947.
