You can pull the hood up to cover your head. This helps protect you from wind and rain. Some hoodies have a zipper. These are called zip-up hoodies. Other styles are pullovers. They do not have a zipper. They often have one large pocket on the front.

Most hoodies have a string to fix the hood opening.

Hoodies were made for workers in the 1930s. They worked in cold warehouses in New York. Later, hoodies became part of hip hop culture.

They also became popular in sports. In Canada, people have different names for them. In Saskatchewan, some call a pullover a "bunnyhug."

Some famous people wear them too. Mark Zuckerberg often wears a plain grey hoodie instead of a suit. In New Zealand, leaders once wore hoodies to fight unfair ideas about young people. Today, many people wear hoodies for comfort or style.
