Jowhar is the capital city of Hirshabelle. The city of Beledweyne is the second largest city. There is also a main port town called Adale. This town helps people connect to the sea. The river is a very important part of the area.

This state was the last one formed in Somalia. It was made when clan leaders reached an agreement. The rules for the country allowed two regions to merge. This helped create the new state. In October 2016, the people held elections for a president. Ali Abdullahi Osoble won that first election. Later, the Parliament chose a new group of 52 ministers.
