Streetcars move along set paths on tracks. Hiroden has a large system for these rides. They have six inner-city lines with eight routes. These routes cover 19.0 km of the city. They also have a long Miyajima Line. This line is 16.1 km long. It runs between Hiroden-nishi-hiroshima Station and Hiroden-miyajima-guchi Station.

The company has a very long history. It was first started on June 18, 1910. A very hard event happened in 1945. The USA dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6. This was a very sad time for the company. 185 employees were killed during this event. Also, 108 of the 123 streetcars were damaged or destroyed.

Even after the bomb, the company did not stop. They started running the system again in just three days. Some streetcars survived the bomb. Two cars, 651 and 652, both survived the event. These cars were still in service as of June 2025. Three trams that survived or were rebuilt still run today. This is 75 years after the bombing.
