Most modern helmets are made of resin or plastic. These materials are light. They also have shock absorption. This means they help soak up the force of a hit. Some helmets use special fibers. We call these aramid fibers. Examples include Kevlar and Twaron. These fibers make the helmet very strong. Race car helmets even have systems to keep the head attached to the body during a crash.
