Alexander was a leader from Macedon. He conquered many lands. His empire stretched from Greece to parts of India.

During this time, Greek culture spread far and wide. People in new lands used the Greek language. They also used a common way of speaking called Koine Greek. This helped different groups talk to each other. Greek ideas mixed with local ways of life. This created a new, shared culture.

Many new kingdoms rose up. These included the Seleucid Empire and the Ptolemaic Kingdom in Egypt.

Religion also changed. People mixed Greek gods with gods from other places. This period ended around 30 BC. This happened after the Roman Empire took control of Egypt.
