Heat is a famous American crime drama film from 1995. It tells a story about two men on opposite sides of the law. One man is Neil McCauley, a professional thief who works with a crew. The other is Vincent Hanna, a dedicated detective for the Los Angeles Police Department. The film shows how their jobs affect their personal lives and relationships.

Both men are very good at what they do. This focus on their skill makes the story feel very intense. The movie explores how being so focused on work can make people feel alone.

Making the film required a lot of careful work. Director Michael Mann wanted the action to look very real. He hired Andy McNab, a former British soldier, to help the actors. The actors trained for three months using real ammunition. They only used blanks when they actually filmed the scenes. This training was so good that the U.S. Army used parts of the film for soldier training.

The crew also looked for new filming spots in Los Angeles. They found 85 locations, and most of them had never been in a movie before.

The story is based on a true event from 1964. A real police officer named Chuck Adamson chased a criminal named Neil McCauley. In the real story, the two men even met for coffee. This meeting is shown in the movie just like the real one. The real McCauley was involved in a robbery in Chicago. During that event, the police blocked the exits to catch the crew. The film uses these real-life details to build its drama.

Many famous actors appear in this production. Robert De Niro plays the thief, Neil McCauley. Al Pacino plays the detective, Vincent Hanna. This was the first time these two famous actors worked together on screen. Other actors include Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, and Jon Voight. The film had a budget of $60 million to make. When it was released by Warner Bros. on December 15, 1995, it became a big success.

Heat is remembered as one of the most influential crime films ever made. It earned $187.4 million at the box office. Many critics praised the acting and the way Michael Mann directed the story. The film's style has inspired many other movies and stories over the years. Even today, people talk about the intense scenes and the deep characters. A sequel has even been in development since 2022.
