Some hazards come from nature. These are called natural hazards. They include things like floods, droughts, and earthquakes.

Volcanic activity and wildfires are also natural hazards. Even things from space, like solar storms, can be hazards.

Other hazards come from human actions. These are called anthropogenic hazards. Some are technological hazards. These come from things people make. A car crash or a plane accident is an example. An explosion can also be a hazard.

Sometimes, hazards join together. For example, heat can join with bad air. This makes the situation harder to handle.

A hazard only becomes a risk if it can touch us. The center of the Earth is very hot. It has a lot of power. But we cannot touch it. So, it is not a risk to us right now.

When a hazard causes a lot of harm, it is a disaster. A disaster is a big problem that a group cannot fix alone.
