arts Maturity 7-9 Next article →

Happy End was a famous rock band from Japan. They were active from 1969 to 1972. Most rock bands in Japan sang in English back then. Happy End was different. They chose to sing in Japanese. This helped start a new way for rock music to sound. Some people even call them the "Japanese Beatles."

The band had four members. Haruomi Hosono played the bass. Takashi Matsumoto played the drums and wrote lyrics. Eiichi Ohtaki was a singer and songwriter. Shigeru Suzuki was a skilled guitarist. They made many albums. Their music was a mix of folk rock and new sounds. One of their albums, Kazemachi Roman, was called a great rock album.

After the band broke up, the members stayed busy. They all made music on their own. They also worked together on many new projects. People still love their songs today. Parents show the music to their children. Students share it with their friends. Their music helped lead to styles like City Pop. It remains a very important part of music history.
