Many people study this movie to understand it. Some people think the movie is about the dangers of living in a quiet suburb. Others look at how the characters act. A scholar named Carol J. Clover says the movie helped create the "final girl." This is a heroine who fights back against the killer. Laurie Strode is a great example of this. Even though Dr. Loomis helps her, Laurie is the one who fights Michael.

This movie changed how movies are made. It helped start the slasher genre. Other movies like Psycho and Black Christmas are also part of this history.
