The Great Tribulation is a big idea in Christian belief. It refers to a hard time mentioned by Jesus. He spoke about it as a sign of the end times. The word tribulation can mean many hard things. It can mean war or great suffering. Different groups of people have many views on this time.

Some people follow a view called Futurism. They believe this time is in the future. They think it will bring many disasters to the whole world. Some believe followers of God will be taken to heaven first. This event is often called the Rapture. Others believe they will stay on earth during the hard times.

Another view is called Preterism. These people believe the hard time already happened. They say it was when Roman soldiers attacked Jerusalem in AD 70. This group thinks the events only affected the Jewish people.

A third view is called Historicism. These thinkers believe the time has been happening for a long time. They think it started in the year 538 AD. They believe the hard times will get much worse soon. People still study these ideas to understand their faith.
