This grand building has a long history in New York. It opened in 1913 to serve the city. Before this building existed, there were two other stations on the same site. The very first one was built in 1871. The New York Central Railroad built this terminal and gave it its name. It used to host long-distance trains to places like Chicago and Los Angeles. However, those intercity trains stopped coming in 1991.
