Long ago, a man named Gongsun Long lived in China. He was a thinker. He taught people how to use words. He wanted to solve fights with peace.

He was part of a group called the Logicians. They studied how words work. He even had a school for his ideas. Rulers liked his work.

Gongsun Long wrote many essays. We only have six of them today. He wrote about things like hardness and color.

He is famous for a puzzle about a white horse. He said, "White horses are not horses." This sounds silly! He meant that not all horses are white.

He wanted things to be in the right order. He thought words should match real things. This helps people live well together.
