Glass knifefish are electric fish. They make a sound-like electric signal. This is called an electric organ discharge. This signal happens in one single phase.

There are 30 living species of glass knifefish. They belong to seven different groups called genera. One kind of fish lives in caves. This is the Eigenmannia vicentespelaea. Some people keep these fish in aquariums at home.
