His design style has changed many times over his career. His earliest cars had smooth and curving shapes. These looked like the De Tomaso Mangusta or the Maserati Ghibli.

By the late 1960s, his work became more angular. He moved toward a style called "folded paper." This style used straight lines and sharp edges.

You can see this in the 1974 Volkswagen Golf or the 1981 DMC DeLorean. In the 1990s, he began using more curvy shapes again.

Giugiaro has had a very long and busy career. He started as a stylist in 1959 at Fiat. He then worked for the company Gruppo Bertone until 1965.

He even designed a walking path in Porto Santo Stefano in 1983.

Many of his ideas helped change how we see vehicles. One important idea was the 1978 Lancia Megagamma concept. It had a high roof and a shape that was very useful.

This design helped start the movement for minivans. It influenced cars like the Renault Espace and Chrysler minivans. His most successful car design was the Volkswagen Golf Mk1.
